Film synopsis:
Working for Stanley (Danny Dyer), Woody (Robert Cavanah) is a pimp, hustler and fixer in Soho's sex industry who agrees to be followed and filmed by a documentary camera crew for one week. However, it soon turns out to be no ordinary week; one of his porn directors is behind schedule, he’s kicked out of his apartment for not paying his rent and he’s beaten up by his landlord and by Chinese thugs who are encroaching onto Stanley’s territory.

These are the least of his problems, though, as he finds out when one of his girls, Petra, goes missing. During his frantic search for her throughout the seductive Soho underworld, Woody soon finds himself starting to question his whole life – a life he now finds is spiralling brutally out of control…

Featuring an explosive cast (including Billy Boyd, Scarlett Alice Johnson, Martin Compston and Barbara Nedeljakova), Pimp is a sexy, exciting and action-packed look at the darker side of London’s glamorous and dangerous nightlife.

You've read the script, now here's the film.

In what is now a fuzzy blur of a week, we can only remember amazing shows with musical dignitaries, stealing someones bike for a photoshoot, hanging out at Jack White's pop-up record store, joining a search party looking for Barley the dog, finding toilet seats shaped like guitars, crashing Tom Morello's not-so-secret afterparty, drinking 20 tequilas and 20 frozen margaritas in two hours, and the rest you can find out about in our previous blog postings.

It doesn't matter how little sleep you get whilst there, being in any one place at SXSW you are (by default) missing sixty plus other great shows elsewhere. Wayne Kramer said it best: "Take it easy. But take it". We took as much as we could and we left wanting more. Until next time Austin, you're an ace city and special crowd for sure.

Sunday at SXSW is never complete without a sojourn to SoCo (South Congress). Resultantly, we ended up at Guero's (where Tarantino filmed the opening scenes of Death Proof), clocking up a bill of 20 tequilas and 19 frozen margaritas with Nathan and Erica, ran into Austin's favourite son Leslie Cochran (oh and Val Kilmer was hanging around) and then had a few more tequilas. It doesn't really matter what you do, SXSW never feels complete. Wayne Kramer said it best: "Take it easy. But take it". Until next time Austin. You've been a wonderful audience.

We were greeted by the most un-Austin-like and offensive European weather on Saturday. As we prepared for our seventh and final show of six days at South by South West 2010, we donned the coats we had only packed for the re-entry home and braved 6th street for the last time before our official House Of Songs showcase at Momo's later that evening.

There was no time like the present to quickly snap up presents for the loved ones back home, but all we could find were toilet seats shaped like guitars and pianos shaped like bins.

Momo's was a great setting for our last gig in town, thanks all those who saw us out with a bang. Needless to say, afterwards we were well and truly spent. So we saved what we had left for one last hurrah and an all-dayer on South Congress the next day...

In a successful attempt to make ourselves exhausted, short-tempered and ill we decided to play three shows in one day. That day was today, Friday. It started off like a scene from a zombie horror movie as we zig zagged our way across Red River at the ungodly hour of 12 midday in order to reach Lambert's for our second House Of Songs showcase.

Awaiting us was the unflappable Troy and Leroy, who set us up immediately while coffee was poured down Johan's neck on-stage. Warming up for Kashmir, we went about waking the rest of Austin's walking dead out of their stupor, met with the DJBFA and various familiar faces before making the most of our only break in the day with a gargantuan mountain of chicken salad at Jo's on 2nd Street - recommended.

Next up was another trip over the river. The usual taxi shenanigans played out until a cuddly, upbeat smirk-monger of a man named Sheikh picked us up and regaled us with sordid but highly unlikely tales of girls getting undressed in his cab and how the local ladies call him 'Sheikh and Bake'.

We were dropped off way up South 1st street at Freddie's Place for an outside show at Chase Frank's Hot Whisky Mixer. Off the beaten track, we perused the vintage stores, stole someones bike for a photoshoot, looked for a missing dog called Barley, got a smile and a wave from a jovial lady in a pink velour tracksuit outside Austin Mortuary Service and waited at least 15 minutes to cross a road before being fantastically welcomed into the fold by Chase and Alberto.

The friendly crowd at Freddie's, including Glynn (an old friend of Manoj's), made us feel very at home, to the point where we didn't want to leave. But we had to, fast...

We finished up at 5pm and immediately had to rush straight back downtown to The Music Gym for our Danish Dynamite
showcase, ably hosted by Christian from Slaraffenland. (Big thanks to Alberto for weaving in amongst the Austin traffic to get us there on time)

So after three shows in five hours, two of us collapsed in a heap back at the apartment and the rest of us headed on out to the Jail Guitar Doors SXSW finale at The Ghosthouse. It was epic. Billy Bragg, Chris Shiflett, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, Boots Reilly, Mike Mills from REM and Lisa Kekaula from the Bell-Rays joined Tom Morello and Wayne Kramer on stage as they locked axes in a guitar battle which had to be seen to be believed, pumping out MC5 classics such as Looking At You and Kick Out The Jams.

Lo and behold, as if that wasn't enough for one day, word got around about an afterparty (courtesy of Tom) around the corner. Involving less than the average amount of cat-n-mouse chicanery usually associated with such bombastic scenarios, we got in, and were rewarded with pizza galore, blue lagoons, purple haze, red lights and a chance meeting with uber-producer Dangermouse, who went home happier than anyone else with a TGTB CD in his jacket pocket.

On this fine Thursday, we tore ourselves away from the pizza fuelled downtown area and the 6th Street catwalk venturing instead to south Austin for our much anticipated House Of Songs showcase at Rocky Erickson's Ice Cream Social, so named because the legend Rocky Erickson (above) was headlining, and because there was free ice cream on tap. (Please take note any promoters out there who are looking to attract an excitable, female-biased audience to their gigs - this works)

Embroiled in a taxi crisis (and therefore a punctuality crisis), where the cab we booked hadn't show up and the one we hailed insisting it was quicker if we walked, we made our way on foot along Congress and over the picturesque Colorado River to Threadgill's, the scene of our first outdoor show in Austin. For the uninitiated, south of Congress is where the real music happens, where there's not a backing track in earshot or a deluded blogger in sight.

Greeting us on arrival was Leroy, Nathan and Troy from House Of Songs, an impressive initiative which pairs Danish and American artists together in Austin all year round. Troy had kindly booked TGTB for three shows this week, starting here.

Today's line up was nothing short of tantalising. It was nothing short at all in fact, with 13 acts on the bill over the whole day. The mouth-watering prospect of seeing J. Mascis (of Dinosaur Jr) with his new band Sweet Apple, fellow Danes (and friends of TGTB) The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, the stage-scaling exploits of The Riverboat Gamblers and Austin's legendary Rocky Erickson, all playing after our set, ensured we were going to stick around and get busy with the fritas (local slang for frozen margaritas) and of course, the freebie ice cream on tap.

We were received by a wonderful predominantly-Austinite crowd of all ages, who were there to be won over not just merely entertained. After our warm welcome and blisteringly sweltering performance we sat back and made new friends in Hilary form LA, Bryan from Australia, Michael from Austin and Julie from New York. Next up were our compatriots The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, then on came The Riverboat Gamblers whose front man ambitiously scaled the corrugated exterior of the stage and propelled himself roofwards for the finale of their set.

Next up was Sweet Apple with J. Mascis on guitar, and their front man John Petkovic revealing that this was their first official gig. Last but far from least, Rocky Erickson (accompanied by Okkervil River) came on to headline the stage to put a seal on an authentic, bona fide big day out in Austin, which ended with an evening at Vice enjoying yet more Danish friends, WhoMadeWho.

Wednesday and the SXSW Music festival had started good and proper. A quick glance over the balcony revealed the freshly installed road blocks attended by a beady-eyed cop who loves his job, rendering downtown Austin a pedestrianised gigging precinct. The sun was beating down, several soundchecks at various distances attacked and billowed through our patio window as neatly assembled lines of people wrapped around the block, queuing for an unofficial day party doubtlessly tanked up with free beer and brisket for those RSVP'd in good time. These were all the indications required to let us know it was time to get in amongst the monolithic musical theme-park that is SXSW.

Venturing outside and onto 6th Street we bumped into Doll And The Kicks again who were in the midst of a spontaneous street gig (in true SXSW spirit), promoting their evening showcase later that evening at Emo's. We were on our way to Jack White's pop-up record shop at Frank's Diner on 4th and Colorado St, where Jack had installed his nomadic Third Man Records for the duration of the festival. With vinyl in hand we delivered the latest TGTB album 'From 018 To 033' to Miles and Ben, Jack White's 'third men' who promised to pass it on to him, though judging by their ogling of the artwork, they probably kept it for themselves.

You have to hand it to Jack. He knows and celebrates the art of special edition releasing and merchandising. On offer were 'Texas-sized' 13" limited edition vinyl versions of The White Stripes and The Raconteurs albums, yellow and black Dead Weather vinyl singles as well as all manner of badges, cameras, t-shirts, posters and instruments. Upstairs was a hastily arranged stage where Karen Elson (Mrs Jack White) was due to perform an exclusive gig to 50 competition winners later in the week. Hats off to Third Man Records, they know there's more to distribution than clicking Buy Now on iTunes. An example to us all.

Gearing up for our own hastily arranged gig round the corner at Prague (the venue, not the capital city of the Czech Republic) we went to a rooftop bar next door where St Patrick's Day was in full swing. Green-clothed Americans pretended to be Irish, indulging in great Irish anthems presented by the house band such as The Proclaimers '500 miles'. We didn't have the heart to tell them it was Scottish.

Then we got the call from Strummerville back at Prague. They had made some room in their stage schedule to allow The Good The Bad to make a guest appearance, going on after the legendary Wayne Kramer from MC5 and before Chris Shiflett from Foo Fighters. No pressure then, just an average day at SXSW...

Wayne and Chris were in town to promote the launch of Jail Guitar Doors USA, an initiative which aims to rehabilitate prisoners through music, and were due to visit Travis County Correctional Complex on Friday to deliver six guitars and play some jailhouse rock n' roll alongside Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine) and Billy Bragg, founder of Jail Guitar Doors UK. We were also eagerly looking forward to their JGD gig later that Friday night downtown.

After our set, Wayne, Margaret and Kevin from Jail Guitar Doors amazingly sought us out backstage and shared a few kind words, whilst Chris also gave us a big shout on-stage. What a great way to kick off the greatest music festival in the world.

For those of you that missed MC5, and we know there's some of you, check out Kick Out The Jams and Let Me Try, two musical gems of theirs. And take note of Wayne Kramer, one of Rolling Stone's greatest 100 guitar players of all time. Here he is back in the day:

After a mammoth sleep on Monday night we resurfaced to a rainswept Austin for our well earned and only day off this week. There were only five things on our list for today:

1) Listen to Lemmy and Motorhead soundcheck (we had no choice, it was right outside our apartment)
1) Register at the Convention Centre for our wristbands/passes
2) Eat some over-sized portions of local produce
3) Try on some funny hats
4) Fill the apartment fridge with Shiner beer

Queuing up for wristband registration is never fun. As with all things in America you need photo ID, even to take a piss, so when Johan realised he had forgot his we had convince the attendant to check TGTB's myspace to match his name to his face. Moving on from there, we went for a slap up feed at a Tex Mex restaurant Casa Chapala where our attentive waiter Marquez regaled us with tales of his proud achievements including making the world's largest ever burrito in the Guinness Book of Records, which he also seemed to have eaten.

After stuffing our faces we waddled down back to Chez TGTB for a further bout of R+R, which would be aided accordingly by a crate of Shiner's from the local store. Not much else to report except we got a great review of our gig the previous night sent to us by Lorne from themusicfix.co.uk. Our performance was so well received by Strummerville and Jail Guitar Doors that they've asked if we're free to play a special impromptu gig the next night.

After a shady taxi ride to Newark our touchdown in sun-drenched Austin at 10am was a welcome change of scenery for us all. We headed straight to Red River downtown to be greeted by Yvonne, who has kindly rented out her ridiculously central apartment to us for the whole week while she camps out at her sisters pad. Opposite the apartment is Stubb's, the best outdoor venue in town and scene of Metallica's notiouriously not-very-secret secret show last year and Motorhead's and Muse's not-so-secret secret shows this week. We've got a ringside balcony to boot - with some very inconveniently placed trees obscuring the view. But Johan hates Muse, so he's quite pleased.

We settled in to our new home and prepared for our imminent show at Latitude 30 that evening, where the British Music Embassy resides throughout SXSW week. TGTB are playing at the invitation of Strummerville (Jo Strummer's new music charity) and Jail Guitar Doors (which constructively rehabilitate the incarcerated through music) both championed by Billy Bragg, Chris Shiflett (Foo Fighters) and Get Cape Wear Cape Fly . It was a great night shared with alot of familiar faces and new friends, including Doll And The Kicks (who had arrived freshly from LA minus $1000 dollars they departed with thanks to some fuckwit in baggage inspection) who we'll be watching on Wednesday at Emo's Annexe.

When we left the Embassy you'll be pleased to hear that the rain had followed us after all. As we hurriedly departed for Chez TGTB a deranged lady wielding an empty guitar case chased us up the street in tandem with a wheelchair bound Vietnam veteran amputee. They don't say Keep Austin Weird for nothing.

Just two days after The Good The Bad's second album launch party and Emma Acs debut gig in Copenhagen, we rudely departed for America on Mothers Day, resembling the walking, dribbling, un-son-ly dead. All was better though when we realised that our work visas (only just approved in time the week before) DID cover our 'secret' gig in Brooklyn, due to occur immediately after landing in New York. Otherwise it could have been a really short trip.

Slumping into our seats on the plane, it became clear that Continental Airlines should no longer to be likened to as the intercontinental version of Ryan Air. Lo and behold they have installed power points between the seats, serve you dinner with a metal knives and forks and employ a striking array of endearing celebrity look-a-likey air stewards resembling luminaries such as Whoopi Goldberg, Salvatore from Mad Men and Mr Miyagi. All very reassuring for insomniacs like us at 30,00 feet.

Upon being probed everywhere but between the buttocks on arrival, we headed straight for the Littlefield venue in Brooklyn to play a swift set alongside Casiokids, The Megaphonic Thrift and Spleen United who were also warming up for their impending trip to SXSW. That was quickly followed by a few frozen margheritas and a trip to Benny's Burritos in Manhattan. Both highly recommended. Without further a do we had to head back to the airport for our 6am connection to Austin. Not recommended at all.

No. Sleep. Till Texas.
